Japan’s Nikkei 225 index made a robust start to the trading week, climbing 2.5% by midday on Monday. This significant increase highlights positive momentum in the Japanese stock market. The broader Topix index also experienced a gain, rising by 1.2%.

Among the standout performers, electronics manufacturer TDK saw its shares surge by 8%, while Seiko Holdings, a well-known watchmaker, increased by 6.8%. These gains contributed to the overall positive performance of the market.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Asia, the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong faced a downturn, declining by 0.3%. It’s worth noting that stock markets in mainland China and South Korea were closed due to public holidays, leading to a quieter trading environment in those regions.
